Collection Delivery Unit

This unit of ICPSR is focused on access and relations with ICPSR's community of users. It is comprised of several smaller teams:

Web Site Development

The Web Site group has the responsibility for developing and supporting the main ICPSR Web site and all other sites that ICPSR implements for sponsors. The group manages the information architecture of the ICPSR sites and also ensures that the sites meet standards of usability and accessibility.

Metadata

This group is concerned with the metadata that users employ to search, locate, and learn about data in the ICPSR holdings and with the technical documentation for ICPSR studies. The group manages the study description records and bibliographic activity, and also performs some markup of variable-level information in XML according to the Data Documentation Initiative (DDI) specification.

User Support

ICPSR's User Support staff consults with researchers, students, practitioners, and other data users to assist them in locating ICPSR data relevant to their needs, in gaining access to data, and in using data effectively. The staff responds to inquiries about and requests for data from individuals at a variety of institutions ranging from member schools to governmental and non-profit organizations to the private and corporate sectors.

Membership Development and Marketing

This group is charged with directing the membership activity of ICPSR, which involves recruiting new members and assisting and supporting existing members. This group also oversees general communications with the membership, including the Biennial Meeting of ICPSR Official Representatives. In addition, this group promotes and markets ICPSR through print and online publications, campus visits, and other mechanisms.

Publications

This group produces all of ICPSR's print publications, including the biannual Bulletin, the Summer Program publications, the Annual Report, and various newsletters, ads, and brochures. All of these publications are also available on the Web, most in Portable Document Format (PDF).
