ICPSR, the world's largest archive of digital social science data, offers opportunities for employment as Research Assistant or Research Associate. ICPSR is looking for individuals with education and experience in the social sciences who are interested in furthering the goals of social science through data processing and preservation.
ICPSR is a unit within the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan. ICPSR's data are the foundation for thousands of research articles, reports, and books. Findings from these data are put to use by scholars, policy analysts, policy makers, the media, and the public. ICPSR's holdings span many substantive areas, such as sociology, political science, demography, history, economics, gerontology, public health, criminal justice, substance abuse and mental health, education, health and medical care, and international relations.
As a Research Assistant or Associate at ICPSR, you will be involved in preparing data for permanent archiving and distribution for secondary analysis; preserving respondent anonymity; performing statistical analysis to check data for accuracy; composing study descriptions describing data collections; creating, editing, and reviewing accompanying documentation; interacting with principal investigators and data producers; providing user support to the research community; and collaborating with other staff.
